Optional: The stain-grade side option changes the type of material used on the sides of the cabinet from Birch plywood to Maple or Oak. The side will still be recessed 1/4-inch from the front corner. The stain-grade 3/4" flush side option also changes the side panel from 1/2" to a 3/4" thick so that the side will be flush with the face frame. The stain-grade matching end door option will have a flush side and a door attached to that flush side, which will stick out from the face frame by 3/4". Cabinet Wood Species
Maple is the best choice for painting, as other types of wood have more grain that could show through the paint. Cherry has more grain than Maple and should be used for staining. Hickory and Pine wood are special-order items that will require more time to build and parts (such as mouldings) are not always available.

Finishing (WC Cabinets)

Door/Drawer Front Overlay (1)* (Required)
Doors and drawer fronts can be built to overlay the face frame by 1/2 inch (standard overlay) or most of the frame (full overlay), or can be made so they fit into the frame flush with the front (inset). Examples can be seen on the door styles page.
Glass Door Panels (2)
Optional: To get glass doors, select a flat-panel, Shaker, or mitered flat-panel door style and use this option to convert the wood panel to a glass-prep panel (no glass included). Mitered doors are not available with mullions. The interior will be unfinished Birch unless you also upgrade to a finished interior, which will match the exterior wood species and finishing color. Stain-Grade Side Upgrades (Wall)
Optional: The stain-grade side option changes the type of material used on the sides of the cabinet from Birch plywood to Maple or Oak. The side will still be recessed 1/4-inch from the front corner. The stain-grade 3/4" flush side option also changes the side panel from 1/2" to a 3/4" thick so that the side will be flush with the face frame. The stain-grade matching end door option will have a flush side and a door attached to that flush side, which will stick out from the face frame by 3/4". If you have your cabinets stained or painted, the upgraded side will also be stained or painted. Click to view example of cabinet end options. An alternative is to use a separate end panel.
